Short Break in Playa del Carmen, Mexico

My brother works 4 months on his cruise ship and then takes a 2 month break. He'll be let off the ship potentially anywhere in the world. This time he would be let off in Cozumel so he invited me to share a condo he had rented across the way in Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen is less touristy than Cozumel (which is a nightmare, in my opinion), although judging by the state of the building going on in Playa it will soon be one of those places that 'used to be good'. For now it's still nice.

This was meant to be a relaxing break, so we didn't do much, activity-wise. I came with the main goal of becoming certified in diving, which I accomplished. The rest of the time, as you'll see, I did very little.

The sand is extremely soft here, so soft, in fact, that it reacts like silt in the ocean. It's stirred up very easily and clouds the water.

It wasn't very hot, although during the day it could get a tad humid, but nothing extreme. The nights were *incredible*. The best weather imaginable while we rode our bikes around town.

I spent some time contemplating the ocean.

A fishing boat came to shore so my brother bought 3 lobsters from the fishermen for $25 total. My brother in the middle and his co-worker/friend Adam on the right.

The fate of the lobster.
